Just My Thoughts...

My, my, my, it's been such along time I honestly don't know where to start. Well I guess “Greetings, I hope all is well with each and every one of you” is the best way to get this ball moving. I would also like to say, that it really feels good to be back, I really haven't had a stage to voice my thoughts during the last couple of months, and Lord knows there has been a lot of damn foolishness and down right trifling activity going on in the world, since I last spoke to you all.

With that being said I want to get right into this piece; however I really don't wish to rehash on the well publicized issues that everyone has touched upon (i.e. Hurricane Katrina, Kanye showed that there is a little Angree Bruther in all of us and handled that for me, thanks brother)…but I guess it's only right that I lay a hand on that issue very quickly.

Kanye West has gotten a lot of backlash for his statements against George W. Bush, but let me say this for everyone who has made derogative comments or said he ruined that Katrina relief benefit show. George Bush has done a lot of asinine shit in his tenure as president that a lot of us have grumbled about within ourselves; however this Hurricane Katrina Rescue ordeal was the straw that broke the camels back. It was like how much more of this are we going to take as not only African Americans but Americans? Kanye's rant as scattered as it may have been was what was needed so America would know that we (African Americans) aren't stupid, we know that Bush puts “Tier Levels respect” on the races and African Americans are “Tier 1”. This is evident by his canceling (and never rescheduling) his meeting with leaders of the NAACP late last year, just to give one example.

Anyway, with that being said let me look forward.

I was talking to Highergroundonline creator, Leonard Jackson a couple of weeks ago and he was telling me how Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue (sounds real “good ol boyish” doesn't it?) asked the state's schools to take two "early snow days" in order to conserve diesel gas, Sonny also said, undetermined amount of regular gasoline also would be saved by allowing teachers, other school employees and some parents to stay home those days. Electricity would also be conserved by keeping the schools closed.

Now I don't live in the state of Georgia , but I can say I'm sure some Georgians appreciate the Governors spirit of conservation, however isn't gas, electricity and things of that nature what taxpayers and the allotted school budget is paying for?? I mean, you are closing schools for two days (not educating children) because you want to conserve on something that the people of Georgia are already paying for? Somebody ask Sonny where the tax & government funding for those two days went to…I would sure as hell like to know.

I mean even if the latest rise in Gas prices has the Georgia school system going over budget, shouldn't there be something called ummm “Emergency Funds” for issues of this nature? If not being able educate a whole state of children isn't an emergency, then hell I don't know what is.

In my opinion, this seems like one of worst thought out plans since Katrina, almost as if this was thought about maybe 40% before it was actually given the thumbs up. Did ANYONE think that while the state may have been saving 250,000 gallons of gas (as Perdue estimated would be saved by cutting school) that parents have to dig deep into their pockets to find somewhere to take their children for those two days? Working parents with vacation time whose only resource was to take off for two days may not have lost money, but they lost two vacation days being forced to take two unscheduled days that they may have needed in the future. And those parents that didn't have vacation time and were required to stay home just lost out on money period. This is another perfect damn example of keep the wealthy, wealthy and the poor, poor.

Ironically a week before this announcement was made, I was in the city of Atlanta for a weekend hanging out and enjoying the sights (how a man is gay in that city with all those women bewilders me, but I'll save that for future writings). However I noticed a very disturbing night club trend that to this day still has me perplexed and I pray that someone can shed light (no pun intended) on this to help me understand what in the hell is going on.

The trend that I am referring to ladies and gentlemen is…..men wearing sunglasses INSIDE the damn club. What in the hell is that about? First of all, why are you bamma asses wearing shades at night? You aren't Wyclef Jean (…I wear my sunglasses at night) and even if you were that doesn't give your wack asses a pass.

Secondly, shades at night aren't cool, there as out of place as a bald head at a hair show competition. Sunglasses are made to protect your eyes from the sun, there isn't any sunshine at night and there sure as hell isn't any at a club. It defeats the purpose and trust me bammas, females don't think its “cool” or “sexy” for you all to be walking around the club looking like Stevie Wonder.

So my public service announcement to all of you backward ass characters is: Keep your shades on your face during the times of the day that when you look up at that bright thing in the sky called the sun. Okay? Do you understand? Great…until next time people, Get it together.

Peace
