How
We Review...
We
have decided to rate albums using a universally recognized 4.0 Grade Point
Average (GPA) scale. The breakdown is as follows:
4.0
Valedictorian - “Head of the Class” like Robin Givins. This artist had
no social life in school. They ate, slept and shat this piece. They
were either in the lab, the library or class. A truly exceptional
effort above and beyond one’s peers. An album to be mentioned
amongst all time greats.
3.5-3.99
Summa
Cum Laude (With Highest Honors) – Finished every
homework assignment, project and paper with high marks on all. Was
always prepared for exams. Surprise quizzes were never a surprise.
A near flawless execution of one’s musical vision. An album
at this level deserves the highest of recognition.
3.25–3.49
Magna
Cum Laude (With High Honors) – This artist “did
their thing” in school. This was whom you wanted on your team
for group projects. It is at a higher level than most quality releases.
This album deserves to be in any and everyone’s “heavy
rotation.”
3.0-3.24
Cum
Laude (With Honors) – A high quality effort. The
artist on this album made good use of their time in school, and
did not slack off. Might have had one bad semester. Definitely worth
the purchase price.
2.5–2.99
Better
than average. Probably partied a little more than they
should have instead of concentrating on their work, but still not
a bad effort. A little more time in the library, and the artist
could have made the “Musical Honor Society.”
2.0–2.49
Average.
This artist is pretty smart, but is not applying his/her/themselves.
Partying, drinking and social life is a little more important than
school right now. About a 50/50 split between good and not so good
material.
